fortress
Thoughts: we hide from it all, we build a big wall, we shelter ourselves so that nothing can get to us (we don't take any chances) dry as a bone and alone as a ghost we cower inside like lonely little flies there was a time when we faced the elements like brave soldiers we had no choice then but then we began to invent and soon enough it wasn't so tough to have food come to our door while we sit and snore we designed a shield of armor made of plastic and wires but for all the creation of our time, mother nature still has last rights to the soil which we live upon and she can and will reclaim it whenever she chooses
Words:
we must build a fortress for the trees
for like our precious children,
they cannot protect themselves

natural mother
Thoughts: she is a lonely old lady she has her moments where she is pleasant and well mannered but sometimes it gets to her that we are burning and poisoning her flesh it seems like a dream that so long ago she had a clear complexion and a glistening smile but now brown is the primary colour and the palette is slowly turning black her patience grew thin and thus faded her grin and now she hands down judgement for our sins against her be it light or dark, cold or warm, she has her fits where we feel her inner torment and no amount of hope or faith or prayers of mercy or miles away will stop her the day she decides to say 'to hell with you for what you have done to me'
Words:
she is populated by lake, soil, plant and animal
we did not create her, yet we claim to possess her
she is natural in her beauty, and strong in her construction
yet we tarnish her and destroy her

but she has the last laugh
for she can unleash her will at any time
and send us all running (those who survive)
she has the last laugh, for she is the strongest of all

fall
Thoughts: the seasons they change as always one of the only reliable things it is how we live and how we learn to survive, as hard times make us stronger in winter the fire is our lifeblood, in spring we are reborn and grow, for summer we sweat and we hunt, and then we all fall down
Words:
time passes, times change
yet never so much that we forget what came before
we dare to dream about what will come next
we dare to reach for the stars, believing the ground beneath our feet will never depart

we see the sun, we see the moon
we sleep at midnight and wake at noon
some of us make use of our given time and resources
others squander and waste (why not conserve and share?)

never as green as the source from which it came
is the paper on which we print our currency
never so pure is the natural element
of which we press into coin

the day will come when we are changed
something may change us, we may bring it upon ourselves
in a matter of centuries, or a matter of seconds
one day fall will be upon us
our sun will set, never to rise again

evergreen
Thoughts: we rejoice and we dance as the sun paints our backs and the glorious mist of the waterfall soothes our soiled skin but all is not well and this you can tell you can see it in the elders eyes we have lived in this land for some time but humanity is doomed to repeat the crime we taint, burn and destroy, we can never live in peace, rebuild and repair completely there is no such thing as a utopia many have tried and fallen for that foolish dream instead we must live our days as best as we can and just wait out each storm and its rain
Words:
vast and expansive are the fields, forests and plains
yet slowly our machines eat away at them
once destroyed, they can never be fully restored
we attempt to imitate the natural state, but it can never be like before

slowly, we eliminate each utopia and paradise
until there are none left and we fight over the best we have
we mock and persecute those who try to salvage and recover
we don't want to change, for we are set in our ways
comforts and materials make us who we are
without them, what are we?

as each mind is changed from grey to green
we inch closer to where we should be
some say it is too late, we much escape to space
others remain optimistic (or simply wave goodbye and don't even try)

we almost need to set aside
a place where our only companion is the tide
a remote desert isle with the essentials of life
the last bastion for us

leifs resistance
Thoughts: this has gone too far for too long we should have stopped ourselves decades ago but knowledge is slow to make the rounds and more and more it is obscured and shot down but no matter the time has come no more excuses we are not useless we can stand up march forward and bring goliath down we will lose some of ours but they will lose more
Words:
dissatisfied, he planned, he connived
he built up the courage to no longer hide
he organized, defied and strategized
the plan goes live at five

he won them to his side, well most of them
in his they confide, their desires no longer to be denied
more respect, better working conditions
no more neglect of the little guy

Leif made his move and started something unlikely
the fall of the great company
the one that started it all
from the time they were small
just a few saws

but he saw the evil, the corruption
he resisted and persisted
he knew they would never cease and desist
so he built up an army and they raised their fists

it was a blindside, an internal act of sabotage
they may never know
but their doors won't be open tomorrow

industry
Thoughts: it is the pinnacle of humankind the fruit of our labour the prize of our greed some work with good intentions others simply want more green but we destroy, we corrupt, we pollute and poison, we ruin the land that was given to us, and we don't look back until there's nothing left but barren wasteland we think one day the machines might overtake us but we still think they are worth the risk we have built more than we can power and maintain, we replace old with new but we will never see victory in this game one day we will have to vacate and start over again to industrialize the next bastion of humanity
Words:
there it lay, severed, abused
the disrespect and lack of compassion
the bottom line is that the roots must come up
life must come down
the irony is that this massacre will help to fuel
the creation of the green paper which is financing
the destruction of its source

like tapping a dead person for fresh blood
you will get some, but the reserves will diminish quickly
they also clean our air

the man-u-factor strikes hard, deep and cold
lay the machines to rest
before there is nothing left to cut down
nothing left to destroy
nothing left but sawdust
a worthless stock
and air we cannot breath

frail foliage
Thoughts: a gentle breeze is a powerful thing, it rustles leaves, it carries the faintest of scents pheromones are in the air and they lead us to care they affect everyone and everything, an invisible force that is only felt within they make us act, crave and desire they initiate the process of procreation, the beginning of the new cycle but apart from this it is still one of the simplest yet most prolific things natures beauty and natural state, untainted, only caressed by pure growth we do not belong here as we have come to exist we always try to rule with a raises fist it was better in gentler times before munitions and ballistics before blood was spilled for no good reason before we domesticated and civilized and began keeping frail foliage as a decoration and not admiring it for what it is
Words:
it wavers in the gentle breeze
being massaged back and forth
it is all that remains that has not been bastardized
tainted or otherwise imposed on
it is neglected by us but fostered as it should be by nature
we should only admire and respect
not lay claim and ownership

it is frail much like us
we build machines, tanks, bombs, guns, fortresses
what are we protecting ourselves from?
we dominate, we lay claim
we build and waste and tarnish
we can never run out they say
but the truth is we can and will
it just won’t be within their days
and of course they don’t care about that
as long as they get their penthouse suite and fancy car
plasma TV, just wait until mother nature spills your plasma
turning the green to red
maybe add a little poison ivy

the leaves follow the sun
we would take that over too if we could

we need to stop trying to rule everything
what’s next, the sky?
